After successfully programming this X10-capable remote to control my TV, DVD, Satellite box, etc, I am attempting to set it up to control a couple of Switchlincs. After adding the X10 command (to the remote) for the living room light switch, I put the Switchlinc into linking mode and pressed the X10 ON button on the remote three times (to set the X10 address), but the Switchlinc did not recognize the command - it remained in linking mode. The remote has several choices for the X10 device. I tried WS467 and WS12A, but neither one worked. Which X10 device does the Switchlink emulate? Any help would be appreciated.

Unless you read the online or included manual

Nothing is ever easy, is it?

Completely different RF frequencies as pointed out.
X10 310MHz
Insteon 915MHz.

X10 and Insteon RF frequencies are different. For X10 you'll need one of TM751, RR501, or CM15A as suggested by BLH.

oberkc is correct, Insteon devices neither repeat x10 signals nor receive 300 MHz RF signals. Line-voltage Insteon devices can transmit or receive power line x10 signals only.

I thought the Switchlinc dimmer switch was dual band, yes? In any event, what about the access point I have installed? Won't that receive the X10 commands and convert to powerline?

I would expect not. I don't believe that access points and dual-band devices are capable of communicating with anything other than other insteon devices. Access points do not recieve or re-transmit X-10 commands, RF or powerline.

Are you sure your remote even sends X-10 over some RF signal? Is it possible that it is IR only? Does your remote have some type of RF base station?

The IR34A sends the basic X10 RF commands and any device set to the address should respond including SwitchLincs.

The WS467 and WS12A choices probably change the graphic display of the device it is set to control. I tried both a WS12A and WS467 with a spare 2876DB Icon Dimmer. Both choices on my IR34A gave the exact same results.

Now if you are using a SwitchLinc Relay type. The WS13A maybe a better choice as it does not have dimming functions.

I use a Palm Pad remote to turn my SwitchLincs On and Off.

You do need a transceiver as mentioned. To take the X10 RF command from the remote and convert it to a power line signal the SwitchLinc can receive.
The X10 RR501 or TM751 can do it. As can the X10Pro PAT01

What interface are you using to convert the x10 RF signal to an x10 power line signal? Is it plugged into the same circuit the SwitchLincs are on?
