Hello,

I have been working with a new energy startup in Boston called Tank Utility and we have developed a WiFi-connected propane smart meter which allows you to remotely monitor your propane usage through a mobile-first, web-based app on your smartphone or computer.

You can learn more about us by checking out http://www.tankutility.com/. You can also watch this video to get a better sense of what we are all about: http://vimeo.com/108803866.

I wanted to gauge what you folks think about this type of technology and hear your thoughts about how this smart meter may help you.

Here is an image to see what the device/app looks like:

I am open to any and all feedback, so please feel free to share your thoughts.

Thank you.

This looks like just what I need for my property up north.

It will not only give me peace of mind about the amount of propane in my tank, it should allow me to save a bunch of money by scheduling fill-ups only when needed instead of on the propane company's schedule.

I would like this sooner than later.

I looked over your website; I noticed there really isn't much info on a roll-out date for this product. I need something sooner than later.

Do you have a proposed date or should I look for other solutions?

I noted your KS campaign was not successful do you plan on doing another? Also, can this device be used on a much smaller BBQ style propane tank? Like the standard 20 gallon and 50 gallons? Your web site also does not offer any price points for the actual unit.

The KS indicated early bird users got in at $99.XX - $189.XX What is the current ETA for this product and also noted 93 people saw value in this device.

Hi Teken and WiFi_Rentals. Sorry for missing these replies and thanks for your interest!

This product is designed for people with large tanks for fuel deliveries, so no it is not a solution for small grill tanks. The tank needs an existing gauge face. Remote-ready (R3D) gauge face will be needed.

The product is being tested currently, and we've made some changes to refine the product to improve battery life, WiFi connectivity, and made the configuration steps more user-friendly.

For pricing, we plan to offer a discounted price to those folks signed up for our newsletter. http://www.tankutility.com/newsletter/

Understood and thank you for the feed back. Wish your company great success in this endeavor as I am sure many who use propane for heating will really enjoy this.

Upgrading to a R3D dial is pretty easy and we even sell replacement dials so you and your propane company don't have to figure out where to get them. You can read more about that process here: http://support.tankutility.com/article/45-changing-your-dial

Finally, I don't mean to resurrect an old thread, but we've come a long way as a company. We've been shipping our devices for over a year now and are offering a cyber Monday discount code through November 28th. Use discount code "CYBERTANK" at checkout to get $35 off.

Please don't hesitate to let us know if you have any other questions!
