You don't. The IR Receiver connects to a Xantech connecting block which provides 12VDC and accepts the IR signal(s). Emitters transfer the IR signal to you equipment.

I have a Niles msu140 connected to my equipment cabinet which is in the back of the room. From there they ran a cable through the wall and connected the wires to a ir receiver on my tv. I called Niles and the "support person" said to get a DL85 to replace the one on the tv. He said I didn't need their connecting block. So I get the dl85 and its a 3 wire so I guess I was told wrong. I also talked to support at Smarthome and he was clueless. I'll just send it back

The Niles MSU140 has a 12VDC connection for the DL85 receiver as well as ground and data connections. The DB85 can be connected to those terminals.

What are you currently using to input IR to the MSU140?

a cat 5 wire is connected to the 4 outputs on the niles block, the wire then run through the wall to the tv and is spliced with a ir receiver that used to work but doesn't because of hd. Where they are spliced there is a status wire plus the three you mentioned. Do I splice the dl85 to the cat5 and don't worry about the staus connection. I believe that will work?
