I need to monitor the operation of my sump pump. I'm looking for an INSTEON device that will sense when the pump is running and when it stops. I do not want to control the pump with a smart switch since it's already controlled by a float switch. Ideally I'd like to know how many hours / minutes it is in operation during a particular time period.

This will send the Insteon On signal when the pump starts and an Off signal when it stops: http://www.smarthome.com/synchrolinc-insteon-2423a5-power-synching-controller.html

You'll need an ISY or a PC and home automation software to log the activity.

Fantastic! That's exactly what I was looking for. I just didn't know what to ask.
I do have the 994i controlling numerous switches, receptacles, switchlincs.

The suggestion noted above has been working flawlessly since installation. I tried to order another 2423A5 for another project but found they are no longer available. Does anyone know of a possible replacement that will work with my ISY?
Thanks for any help you can offer.

You may want to look at this information. Not as easy as the SynchroLinc but it will work.

The Mamac CT800 or CT805 can trigger a Insteon 2450 I/OLinc Sensor Input. That the ISY994i could receive the pumps On/Off status.

You would have to put the sensor around one of the AC wires feeding the pump or build the adapter near the end of the article.

I picked up two CT800's for future projects on eBay.
They do trigger the Sensor Input on a I/OLinc.
