Hi, new to the smarthome world. I've got a process that I want to automate and I think some of this stuff could easily do the job, with the plethora of systems out there though I thought I might try to get some recommendations.

What I'm trying to do, I need to automate a sequence of events on different appliances. This includes waiting a specified period of time, dimming in a light bulb, playing some music, dimming in a set of lights, waiting a specified period of time, then running some high amperage equipment (pumps).

I need to be able to setup different profiles with the same sequence with different timing, this sequence needs to be able to be put in motion by selecting one of the profiles from an iOS app on iPad (used to run other applications in the space).

Could someone make a recommendation as to the system to run and what software to use? I'm a little overwhelmed with the options. Thanks!!!!

Do you have a specific app in mind? (It would certainly help to identify it.)

It would probably be good to identify the specific loads (volts, amps, etc...)

no specific app in mind, looking for suggestions, anything that can do what I need and run on iPad. The pump is a 1.5hp 115v motor so about 17amps

Sounds like one of those sensory deprivation tank operations. Doesn't the maker of those pods also sell the reservation system/timer/pod management software?

From what you have specified so far, it sure seems within the capability of what I use: insteon and z-wave switches and modules, along with the ISY-994 controller. There are a couple of app options for iOS, but suspect the most common would be mobilinc.
