Good morning
Is there a way to create a scene or trigger when the garage link sensor detects a open. I know it can send a TXT or alert but could it also trigger a scene to activate upon open?
Thanks

"it"? (I know "it" can send a TXT or alert). Are you talking about the hub?

Steps would vary if you have a hub, and which hub you use, but the simplest was in my mind would be to create a scene, with the IOLinc as controller and devices you want to turn on as responders.

I have the 2245-222 hub. Yes the txt coming from the hub. What I a looking to do is say I when I get home I use the remote to open the garage door ( not the insteon app) the door opens and the single from the IO linc detects the door was opened. Can just the open sensor ( on open) control a scene?

Yes, the IOLinc sensor can be the Controller of a scene.

Whatever you add as Responders of the scene will respond to both on and off signals from the IOLinc. There’s no provision for on-only control in INSTEON hardware, but if you have an ISY there’s a work-around. Remove the IOLinc from the scene entirely. Instead, create a rule that reads If IOLinc sensor turns on, then turn on scene.

If you created a scene for the garage sensor to turn on the kitchen light when the door opened, then it would also turn off the kitchen light when it closed.

The hub is not a logic based controller. If you want to leave the light on once opened, you would need a more capable controller such as the ISY
