Hello all,

I spent some time exacting the size for these so I want to share them. They are .doc files for Microsoft Word.

Trim exactly the border off.

Don't use these jpegs, they won't be the correct size.

Download here: 2440_label.zip

Thank you,
Rand

Cool, thanks!

I had one done in Excel, but it's nice to have one in Word.

For my black RemoteLinc, I printed white text on a black background, which I think looks real nice.

Here's a pic:

MikeB,

That looks great!

Once you open the file in Word of course you can change the fonts, colors, formatting, etc. Just don't change the size or placement of the six text boxes and the printout should fit perfectly.

Looks great! Mike -- you need some black Xbox controllers to match :)

Does Smarthome or do you know where one can get a "matte/no-glare" plastic template cover replacement for the glossy too reflective plastic acetate cover that sits on top of the paper template of the RemoteLinc ???
...When overhead lights hit the glossy plastic the glare can hit you when viewing it. A "matte" (flat/no glare) plastic aceate cover is what I would want for it.

I would try to find something at maybe an art supply or office supply store and cut it to fit. Would have to be fairly thin to fit under the plastic tabs.

Joe, great question:

If you prefer a matte finish, try printing your labels on a light cardstock (or coverstock), then you won't need to use the included plastic cover. Here's a link to the template we have on the RemoteLinc product pages:

Good answer!

When did you sneak that template onto the RemoteLinc pages? I must have checked a dozen times over the last few weeks. They look good.

Thank you,

Well, I liked some of the ideas we've seen on this thread, so I went ahead and stole some of those from you all, and put them together for what I wanted, but I did mine in Excel. It was the toughest just trying to figure out how to do the horizontal line.

Directions are in the file. These are white text on a black background. It might be cool for someone to use the fill to try and match the silver color of the other RemoteLinc color, but I can't do that, because mine are all black.

Enjoy. Smarthome is also free to put it on their web site, if they want to, my only request is that if it is done, please post here so that I can take down my link.

Thanks! I like the remote label in the middle!

I found the best matching silver varies depending on the printer. What looked good on my laser didn't look good on my inkjet.

The silver is pretty much impossible to get dead on, while the black is easy to match.

Jason,

Your template looks nice... I like the way you label the remote or the room in the middle. Thanks for sharing.

In return, I've enabled uploading on the wiki if you'd like to host it there. All you need to do is create a login and go to the following link. Anyone else who would like to put their templates there as well are more than welcome:

Thanks, the label in the middle was originally Rand's idea, I just stole it, and turned it into an Excel document instead of word.

Thanks also for pointing out the Wiki. I'll host it there eventually.

The error I get is:

quote:
Upload warning

".zip" is an unwanted file type

List of allowed file types: png, gif, jpg, jpeg, pdf, txt, xls, doc

I will try the .doc files later.

With one remote I didn't need the center label, but when I got a second remote...

Thanks geogecko for the Excel translation, good job!

My wife knows Excel, I don't know anything so I find Word easier to use.

Yeah, now if I could come up with one for the ControLinc! Maybe I could use the alignment features of the cells to duplicate the curves of the label...

Jason,

I'm not sure if you've seen the one we have posted:

http://www.smarthome.com/files/2430-4071_Label_Print.exe

It's a light-weight app you can use to print and store your labels for the ControLinc (curvature matches). If you prefer, there's also a .zip file on the bottom of the product page:

http://www.smarthome.com/2430.html

Enjoy,
