INSTEON makes lighting easy and convenient, why not pet feeding?

Check out http://www.smarthome.com/6184ak.html and http://www.smarthome.com/6182ak.html for Remote Pet Feeding Kits, or to see your pet while remote feeding, try http://www.smarthome.com/6184ck.html or http://www.smarthome.com/6182ck.html

I have one of these for feeding my cats when I'm gone for extended periods. We got it a lone time ago and love it. We used to use it daily when we were home but we stopped because one of our cats is chubby and we think she eats more of the food. One thing I don't understand is why you need Insteon with these. They come with a timer that you can schedule multiple times per day down and you can have it run for any amount of time down to the second.

The Insteon SmartLinc lets you view the camera and manually trigger additional feedings from the same page, as well as remotely adjust other Insteon lighting or heating for energy savings or animal comfort, doesn't it?

I just looked at the quick start guide and they say you don't use the timer that is included so they are just doing it with a timer. That would give you the ability to manually start stop it or link it to a KPL button so it only ran when away.
