My two dogs usually stay in the fenced yard during the day while I work. Due to my work schedule, I would soon have to leave quite early in the morning like 6:30AM. I am thinking of installing a pet door so my dogs could freely use the yard. However they have a barking issue when neighborhood dogs pass by so I don't really want them to be out too early. Unfortunately no pet doors on the market could serve this purpose. One solution I thought might work is if I put up a second barrier, such as a modified baby gate or something, which is shut with electro-magnetic force. To that I would add a programmable electricity shut-off device and program it to shut off the electricity at 9AM or 10AM. With the magnetic force gone, the gate would swing open, and the dogs could reach the pet door opening. I am not knowledgeable to tell if any of the devices sold here could work in this solution. Or in other ways to achieve the goal of delayed-let-out. Welcome any inputs.

If you can utilize a chicken coop door, this may work: http://www.add-a-motor.com/Model%20D20%20Motor%20for%20Chicken%20Coop%20Doors.htm

I just looked up the chicken coop door solution. It is great, that they actually already have a setup, that is not only for the opening, but also closing. I'll contact them to see how it may fit into a PET DOOR scheme. Thanks for the great tip.
