I had the same problem earlier. These beasts were everywhere. My wife was afraid of them and only chemistry saved me. Gound some information here

Got some interesting information. According to the University of Florida Extension, organic diatomaceous earth will eliminate individual ants, but its effectiveness to kill the entire colony is questionable. Using a sprinkler can, mix 2 oz Monterey Garden Insect Spray (spinosad) per gallon of water, and apply to individual mounds as a drench.

Ants really hate vinegar, and you can make a cheap, easy pesticide just using vinegar and water. Mix a 100% solution vinegar in a spray bottle. Spray it directly onto the ants to kill them, then wipe up the ants using a damp paper and discard them.

In getting rid of fire ants, I usually pour vinegar and baking soda into the fire ant nest hole

The best method I used myself in the garden is to mix water with ammonia in ratio 1:100 and pour the ground. So you'll get two things at once: getting rid of ants and saturating plants with nitrogen

Fire ants trouble? Douse them with water! :D

Jokes aside, try the insecticides used for spraying the backyard. Works wonders for me.

Fire ants build a high mound for their nest. Finding the nest outside and putting some fire ant killer on it will kill the nest of ants. And where they crawl. If not putting some fire ant bait in the house so the ants can take it to their nest will get rid of the nest. Not anything will kill fire ants. It takes bait and ant killers that are labeled to kill fire ants. It will take some time for the baits to kill them.

Ants are one of the most common backyard pests. While spraying the yard with pesticides is one quick and easy way to get rid of ants in the yard, this may not be a good idea if pets or small children use the yard too. Keep the ants away this summer, safely and inexpensively. You have stuff at home that can do the trick.

I have tried wood ash once. It can reduce a lot of fire ants.

Diatomaceous earth, wood ashes, and cedar are all natural/non-toxic solutions to abate pest and mold issues (from

Good luck!
