Energy savings are NOT, in my mind, the primary benefit. After all, the same savings can be achieved with a simple LED bulb.

The primary benefit of a smart bulb is ability to control remotely, such as via your android or iOS phone or via computer or hub. You could also put the brains in the light switch or plug-in module which is, to me, the better option when available.

Smart LED bulbs are energy-efficient. A smart bulb consumes about 9 watts and has a long life. This helps save you from paying high electricity bills.
