I'm building a new home. I'd like to get a full-home low-voltage design done for lights, window shades, TVs, security stuff.

What's the best way to get this design done professionally? Some vendors here are asking for $$$$ for what I think should be a pretty simple task for someone who knows their stuff.

Anyone on this forum who wants to sit down and design for < $$$$ ?

You may be able to find a hobbiest willing to help for less money but not a professional. What you may feel is easy and should be cheaper is more time consuming than you imagine if done right.

Anyone can say buy XYZ. However camera placement, wire runs, switches, and programming is a whole different ballgame.

As I always tell people, "you're paying for the knowledge and time not the work itself". Not to be smart but if it were that simple and easy, everyone would be able to do and have it work seamlessly.
