In terms of number of devices and scenes, is there a difference in the capacity between these two? I see some places that say the maximum links for the hub are 400. I see some places that say the maximum links for the PLM are 400 and others that say over 1,000. I have about 100 devices, with a number of scenes - some of which include most of the devices.

Houselinc says I currently have 448 of 992 links in use connected to the PLM.

I would prefer to use the Hub if it will have the capacity to handle, but based on what I have read, I’m not sure it will.

Any thoughts appreciated!

I have never used a 2442-222, the later 2245-222 HUB, HouseLinc with any interface it works with. So how to do scenes or shrinking them I can't say.
It does sound like 448 Links would be more than the older 2242-222 HUB can hold.

Thanks for the follow up. So based on HouseLinc saying I am using 448 of 992 links on the PLM, I assume switching to the Hub 2242-222 is a no go for me. Am I understanding that correctly?

Also, is the only way to reduce links to either decrease devices or decrease the number of devices in my scenes? Some of my scenes are related to setting up 3/4 way switches, while most are about controlling multiple devices at the same time. Just trying to make sure I’m being as efficient as possible.

Another situation that comes to mind is that I have an “All Downstairs Off” and a “All House Off” scene. The downstairs off scene is essentially a subset of the all house off scene. Is there a way to link the all downstairs off scene to the all house off scene to reduce the need to have 2 links for each downstairs device instead of 1?

Many thanks!

Sorry I missed the 2242-222 part number in your message title.

The presently sold 2245-222 HUB was the 992.

One of the 2242-222 manuals in my saved files, says 400.

Thanks. Is that the new hub or the older 2242-222 hub?

The Smarthome sales pages.
Show the Insteon HUB at 992 Links
Show the 2413S or 2413U PLM 1000+ Links
The confusion on the PLM maybe the original 2412S and 2412U PLMs where 400 Links.
