In my new addition I am thinking of running all my home (cable, direct tv, cameras, security, and networking) wiring too one location in the basement. But I dont know what to run. So for the entertainment center would 2 rg6 and 2 cat6 be ok? What about to the office where the main computer is? Im afraid to waist money but want to plan for the posabilitys of a full home automation system. Plese help.
thanks

A way to not waste money is to install low voltage flexible conduit from each location where each plug-in device is to be located (e.g., AV, LAN, etc.) to a central location and pull the needed cables later. Most home automation systems do not require running extra cables.

As for the entertainment center, the cables you mentioned are inadequate for quality audio. Where are the speakers located? One Cat6 from a router or switch is adequate as you can add a switch at that end. The number of RG6 cables depends on the services you receive.
