I am looking for some advice for an internal intercom. I currently have an intercom connected from my kitchen to each of my children's bedroom. It uses the power line to transmit. However, I am looking for something that I can install and talk through my telephone. Any ideas?

Most Panasonic cordless phones include intercom capabilities. How many handsets do you need?

I apologize. I wasn't clear. When I mean my phone, I am referring to my cell phone. My goal is to have 3 speakers (one in each room), and I can talk to any room or all rooms through my cell phone.

I recently went through this process since we remodeled a large portion of our campus over the summer and did away with our analog system. Valcom was definitely the most inexpensive solution we could find and though we have a few of those units, I spent a little bit more and went with Advanced Network Devices units due to availability. The Valcom units work pretty well though but we run everything through Informacast so that it ties in with our phone system. You'll thank yourself later by going with something IP based since it really only requires POE to work and fairly easy to install as I just finished installing about 48 of them throughout the campus. Be sure to check on educational discounts since many vendors will offer them. If you have to do outdoor spaces a well, Valcom makes louder IP horn speakers which we recently installed too.
