I've heard since I was about 13 that there are ways to turn off your lights with your computer. One of my PC Repair instructors also told me that I could control my sprinklers from my pc and everything. Is this just a myth or can someone show me how to really do it? I know you can do it from the I phone now how do i do it from the computer

There are PC programs for most Home Automation (protocols) Some require a PC interface (hardware) others use a Hub (Wi-Fi hardware)
Controlling sprinklers from your PC has been possible for some time though the move to Phone (control) apps has become more popular.
Even things that now only have android app can be controlled from the PC using an android simulator like Bluestacks

How you accomplish that wholly depends on what specifically you want to control-not so much the kind of devices, but the brand and especially the protocol that those devices use.
