Is it possible to use an Insteon Remote Control Portable thermostat to monitor a house remotely? I am looking to monitor temperatures to watch for freeze among other things. I was thinking I'd have to use an ISY and do some programming. I want it to check temps maybe hourly and message me if temps go out of range.

Yes, an ISY will certainly allow you to do that.

Yes it will but not as simple as stu implys. You can do limited analog logic with the ISY and temp limits are one of the easier things to do. But the isy really likes to look at events like on off signals. So I guess you can set your tstat to the temp you wanted and look at the status of the tstat to do your logic. The ISY is very good for remote access and on off type control. Mobilinc is one of the better apps.
