After installing an Ecobee3lite for my mom, I decided to get an Ecobee3 (refurb) direct from ecobee. I want to replace my T1800 which utilizes the add-a-wire option. It's been over 5 years since I installed it.

I would need to use the power extender from the ecobee. Do I simply swap the add-a-wire with the power extender, wire for wire?

I don't know how you wired the Add-a-Wire (there are a bunch of choices), so can't make any claim.

In any case, doesn't the Ecobee have its own instructions? Mine did, but I didn't need it so I no longer have it not the instructions. I'd follow the new (Ecobee) instructions.

The E3 is on it's way. I was just seeing if anyone has done the swap already.
