Someone is repeatedly trying to enter into our condo complex. We are working with the police. But, I would like to get something for stand-off personal defense. Some of my friends suggested pepper spray and tasers. But, I am open to other options.
What are the various pros/cons of pepper spray and/or tasers? Any other devices which I am overlooking? I have heard about intrusion alarm systems . Is this effective? Can I set this alarm with a pet left inside? Does the alarm work when power is out?
Please give some genuine replies and suggestions. Thanks in advance.

Depends on a system type.
For instance, regular motion sensors will detect any motion in your house, even if it's just your pet. Some systems include pet-proof motion detectors. Most of these types of sensors will not trigger the alarm if the pet weighs anywhere from up to 40 to up to 80 pounds. They're more reliable in your case. Passive infrared motion detectors use heat to distinguish between human and pet movement. Also it's important to decide, where are you going to place a detector: you'll need to consider your pet's habits and consult a specialist.
Stay safe, Teffzina.
