Wanting to hard wire fans in bedrooms to on, put fan controllers in base, and replace single pole switch with a 6/8 button controller. Hopefully this will allow me to control lights/fan speed independently. There is a ground through all locations.

Can the 6/8 button controllers (they say dimming) operate without a load on the dimming side, just as a controller?

again, there is a single pole switch there now in a bedroom to switch on/off the fan, and you must control the fan/light by the pull strings. going to wire that switched lead always hot, use controller in fan base, and replace switch with multi-button controller (always on), so that I can control fan and light separate, while using the other buttons to control other modules in the house.

Fan Controllers. Are you thinking about the 2475F FanLinc?

The KeypadLinc can be used as a controller only and with no load on the Load Output. Just cap it off and supply Line and Neutral connections.
