My Everite motorized awning is controlled by an Insteon 2444-222 Open/Close Micro Module as part of an ISY home automation system. I'd like to add a wind sensor that would close the awning in case of high winds. Before I start down the road of researching such a setup has anyone out there done this already who could give some help?

If you have not asked yet in the UDI Forums. You may also want to ask there for added information.

Hi Don,

I'm not sure how complex you want to get or even your budget. But, if we assume there's room for a modest budget and you like to learn.

You may consider the two items for this integration.

The Weather Flow company has successfully funded and is now shipping there next generation smart weather station: http://weatherflow.com/

A great member has also created a *Node Server* which uses the Alpha 5.XX firmware platform. In doing so you can use this fantastic application from bpwwer to integrate the Weather Flow system directly into the ISY Series Controller: https://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/23779-weather-flow-nodeserver/

This will provide you hyper local weather metrics which you can than manage your homes comfort, hardware, and personal safety.

Teken . . .

I know they make them for RVs. A quick Google search turns up this: https://www.rvautoparts.com/SR0093-Carefree-RV-Awning-Motion-Detection-Retractor-For-Use-With_p_248.html

Perhaps something like that can be made to work your Insteon system.
