Hi, can I use motion sensors to activate siren in scenes? I already had Insteon Hub. And i’m Thinking of how to use this as home security? Thanks

Would not a scene work here? Sensor as controller, siren as responder?

I suppose it depends on what you expect when you say "work". When the motion sensor sends ON, the siren will start. When the motion sensor sends OFF, the siren will stop. Nothing more exotic than this.

Are you using a Insteon controller? Like a HUB or ISY994i?
The Siren module and earlier Alert module where added in the 5.? beta firmware if it is an ISY994i. The 4.? firmware never got it.

This is from an earlier production run Siren Module and a 4 Scene Remotelinc 2. New ones maybe different.
Siren sound linked to the a button set, Ding-Dong sound linked to the b button set and enable-disable function linked to the c button set.

Siren sounded for 30 seconds when the a button sent an on. It did not stop with the a button sent an off. Would stop early with the c button sent an Off.

Ding-Dong sounded with a b button on.

If disabled the c button on. Started a 45 second time out. LED flashed Red and after it timed out. The Siren and Ding-Dong functions where enabled.

Depending on possible firmware changes to present Siren Modules. The motion sensor may trigger a siren sound for 30 seconds and it will then stop.

It may also be possible. The controller you are using maybe able to modify the Siren modules setup parameters.

I have the MS on front porch , siren on back deck, this way if someone gets near the door in front the siren will sound. Just set up a scene linking MS and siren.
Its below freezing here, and it still works.
Mainly use it during summer but leave it year long.
