My 2242 hub is acting weird. After disconnecting from power and internet router, it will no longer connect when I plug in power and internet cable. Sometimes the LED does not light at all, and sometimes the LED will flash red. I have tried both network reset and factory reset (per owner's manual) and get no beeps or any sound. Nothing seems to happen with the reset button. Any suggestions as to how to confirm if beyond recovery? This hub is 3+ years old, therefore out of warranty. I don't really want to get the new model as it is apparently not compatible with my X10 devices. Thinking of getting the UD ISY994i. Any insight would be appreciated.

It sounds like it has a bad power supply. There are posts on a few forums. About both the 2242-222 original HUB and the 2245-222 HUB.
Having power supply issues. You may want to call Insteon Customer Service to verify it is has failed.
They do have a program to replace the newer 2245-222 HUB but I have seen nothing on the older 2242-222 HUB.

I know there are ISY994i users doing X10. If you do go that way. The firmware optional X10/A10 module adds extra things for X10 use. Though real basic X10 can be done with out it.

Only a $9.00 fee. You can purchase through the Administrative Console.

I'll second BLH. I also have the 2242-222 and when it dies I'll go with the ISY.
