The last time I wired a new home was before the advent of phone apps, smart access, etc. We would place the alarm panel with keypad somewhere near the entry door but not in obvious sight. Still do it this way?

• Where should I place the intrusion alarm panel?
• Can this be integrated with fire alarm?
• Can the whole thing be integrated with surveillance? Or does each remain a separate system?

Thanks for helping me get up to date!

If you want to you can place the intrusion alarm panel near the entrance, but I have seen many people advice others to put it somewhere out of sight, and maybe not in a too obvious spot.
You should be able to integrate most of your security and surveillance devices to the central hub, so that everything is connected. At least that is the case with most surveillance systems these days, in my experience.
