Hi,

I had to swap out an old defective dimmer with a new one 2477D.
However, device shows up in HL as unrecognized. And yes, I have the latest HL def files (that I know from last update).
I do believe that I had this issue before and somebody recommend a trick to "force" the device. But I don't recall how....

Development and support on Houselinc free. Was discontinued years ago.
The latest devices.xml was 2.9.87 11/30/2016.
I looked at the latest devices.xml and there are entries for the 2477D. With firmware versions listed. Maybe yours has a different firmware revision. Though the last entry is any. So I would think yours would work.

Hopefully someone can give you some added information.

On a copy in case it gets messed up. You can edit the devices.xml file with a plain test editor. To add information if you are carefull. I did a entry for some PLM versions.

Are you using Houselinc Free?
It sounds like you are using an Insteon App on a HUB maybe?

I wonder if the issue is bad comm. I can do basics form HL as a generic device.
Is there any way I can overwrite what HL thinks the device is?

Its time to let go of houselinc. If you don't want to pay for a controller, there are free options such as Home assistant
