You can use an IP camera with the SmartLinc or with an iPhone application or with the web application of your choice. Insteon signals travel via 900 MHz RF and embedded power line signals, so they shouldn't interfere with or impact an IP camera in any way. |

Thanks for the reply. I know I can see a IP camera through SMARTLINC, but I can hear the audio?
I want to install an IP camera and intercom at the entrance of my house and I want that SMARLINC, it notice that someone used the intercom and I speak to my visitor through the IP camera, because the camara has a microphone and a speaker. What do you think? |

The SmartLinc does not have voice capability. Also, if the camera has two way audio, what is the purpose of the intercom? And what will the SmartLinc do?
BTW, I do use an intercom and camera. I also have a SmartLinc, but don't need it for the visual and aural communication. |

thanks for your assistance. I want that when a person touches the button of the intercom, I can answer from my computer or iphone, and also see through the camera to the person. That is the reason to use the speaker of the camera.
What do you think friends ?
Regards...

The SmartLinc offers a static picture from a webcam but doesn't stream--you'll need to use a separate application for that, probably something specific to the make of camera and phone you are using. |

We use a DoorBell Fon. It's a doorbell button that's also an intercom. Any wired phone is both the doorbell chime and the intercom. You do not need, but can have, wired phone service. Only one phone needs wired to the device. If you have a wired service and more than one wired phone, you'll need to connect the device at the entry point. Add a multi-line cordless phone and you have an intercom anywhere you want.
Connect a Doorchime Interface to an I/O Linc to trigger any Insteon device.
Any IP camera is accessible from any computer. Most are also iPhone compatible.
I use wired cameras and a SVAT DVR for internet and mobile phone viewing.
When someone rings our doorbell, we can see them, talk to them, buzz them in (or not), and -- from bed, if that be the time -- a small monitor awakens. I may not or be |

To integrate with an intercom (i.e., this topic)? |

I just implemented this solution last week... I do not see any need to directly interface IP cameras to a security/automation system. the only option you may want is to connect the camera alarm output to your security system. This option is really just a cheap way to get a motion detector but a real motion detector has more function and is a better choice.
I have a photo sensor that runs across my property line, a driveway motion detector (an awesome honeywell dt900) and an insteon motion detector at the front door. I also have 4 PTZ cameras that give full view of the property and the elk voice siren module! all controlled by an elk m1 and ISY.
Now here is what happens. Depending on what trips I get a txt message advising me what sensor tripped. i open the camera i want with my iphone to view the intruder. I can play a pre-recorded message (I have 2 different messages) through mobilinc and the elk voice/siren board, I can set a strobe and/or a siren as well. All from my Iphone
The only drawback is the IP cameras that I have.. do not have audio capability on the phone they need ActiveX to access the audio features. But If I am at my computer I can open up the camera and talk to them (two way). I have only implemented the audio on 2 of the cameras because I do not expect someone to be near the other 2.
There are IP intercoms available but they are pricey. The key thing to look for in the audio portion is to find something that does not require active x. (more phone friendly)
